St Petersburg Ballet Theatre (SPBT) is to present two fully-staged productions of festive family favourites – Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake – at Symphony Hall. The company, applauded for its lavish sets and spectacular choreography, performs Sleeping Beauty at a 3pm matinee on 4 January and Swan Lake at 7pm on 5 January. Acclaimed ballerina Irina Kolesnikova, this year celebrating ten years on stage, dances the principal roles in both ballets.

The talented young company from St Petersburg was formed in 1994 and is recognised as one of the few genuinely Russian companies visiting the UK. The company of 100 artists includes its own orchestra and a roster of exceptionally fine dancers trained in the pure classical style.
