Technically dazzling as a young man and hailed as ‘the greatest pianist of his generation’ by The Independent, Evgeny Kissin is now one of that very select handful of pianists who evokes the word ‘genius’. In this rare recital of the great classical and romantic repertoire he marries his virtuoso brilliance to a profound musical intuition.

Oliver Condy, Editor of BBC Music Magazine, explains why he has recommended tonight’s concert:

Former child prodigy Evgeny Kissin performs at Symphony Hall in one of only three UK concerts this year. Prepare to be wowed by the artistry and technical precision of this most celebrated of Russian pianists.

Haydn Sonata No 59 in E flat (Hob. XVI: 49) 26’
Beethoven Piano Sonata in C minor, Op 111 27’
Schubert Impromptus in F minor (Op 142 No 1), G flat, B flat, and A flat (Op 90 No 4) 34’
