Musical Picnic
Will and Nicky Pound's Haddo
Symphony Hall Cafe Bar
Free Event
Featuring Harmonica, Melodeon, Viola and Fiddle, Haddo brings together Will and Nicky Pound, joining forces to create a new and unique sound. Combining rich and exotic melodeon harmonies with the dark tone of the viola, they take well known tunes and twist them 180 degrees. From morris to bluegrass, traditional tunes to their
own compositions, Haddo are guaranteed to raise the roof.
Their special set for the Musical Picnic will include helping Will and Nicky to write a song, participatory singing, rhythm games and even morris dancing!
Will Pound has recently been nominated for BBC Radio 2 folk awards musician of the year and is as well known for his harmonica pyrotechnics as he is for his virtuoso melodeon playing. He also featured on the BBC 2 documentary Goldie’s Band: By Royal Appointment, as well as playing on the latest Martin Simpson release, Purpose and Grace.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Nicky is a historical performance specialist who has worked with names as diverse as Sir Colin Davis and Sir Elton John. She classes a 10 day spell at Radio City Hall, New York with the Elton John Band as the highlight of her degree. Having completed her Masters in 2009, Nicky now divides her time between a successful teaching practice, freelance orchestral work and Haddo.
