One of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was the undisputed champion of sufi and qawwali music. His virtuosic talent mesmerised audiences from concert halls to cinema theatres and nightclubs worldwide. Today his torch is carried by nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who teams up with the
CBSO on this ambitious project fusing Nusrat’s most loved compositions with the might of the orchestra, and whose last experiment with music from the region was televised in over 100 countries worldwide. With superhits like Dum Must Qalander and Yeh Jo Halka, Halka, to stirring love songs like Afreen, Afreen and popular Bollywood tracks like Zindagi Jhoom Kar, expect to be astonished by some incredible vocals set against a powerful, hypnotic orchestral backdrop.
