England’s finest acoustic roots duo, Show of Hands, embark on an extensive tour of English venues. Having sold out the Royal Albert Hall three times, headlined at festivals from Glastonbury to WOMAD, supported the likes of Peter Gabriel and Jools Holland, what could be more apt for the Devon-based act described by Peter Gabriel as “one of the great English bands”
Steve Knightley, described by Radio 2’s Mike Harding as “one of England’s great singer songwriters”, and Phil Beer, nominated for the coveted “Musician of the Year” title at the 2009 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, are joined by the richly talented Miranda Sykes on double bass and vocals.
This is not folk as you know it, being edgier and nudging the mainstream, it pitches into rock, blues, country and world music, played on an eye-defying multitude of instruments from slide guitar to fiddle, mandolin to South American cuatro. Starting the show each night will be their special guest, the intriguing and unique French-Geordie Flossie Malavialle.
