From July 2007, smoking in public buildings in England becomes illegal. There will be many though, including the leading German composer Wolfgang Rihm, who continue to resist what society says they should think or do, including smoking. I Am A Mistake is a passionate plea against political correctness and a rhapsodic love-song to smoking, in the composer’s words, “the pleasure that is trying to kill me.” Bringing together film, live music, song and dance, I Am A Mistake has been created in collaboration with Jan Fabre, one of the most radical and innovative artists working today.
