Drummin' Man: Tribute to Gene Krupa and The Swing Era The Gary Allcock All-Stars Big Band with very special guest Eric Delaney
More Info Book TicketsSat 4 Jul 8:00pm Town Hall
This year we are celebrating 100 years since the birth of the man who almost single handedly brought the drum kit, as we know it today, out from the back of the band and into the limelight. That man was of course the one and only Gene Krupa. This is a tribute to him and the bands of the Swing Era, including; Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich, Benny Goodman and Woody Herman. *Eric Delaney* In 1940 a 16 year old Eric Delaney won the title of _'Britain's Best Swing Drummer'_ - the rest is history. He has played with every name that you can think of and is still as popular as ever. His new book _The Magnificent Eric Delaney_ has just been published. Come along and hear him playing on his double bass drum kit, his timpani and marching snare drum.

Suzanne Vega Casa Alianza 10th Anniversay Benefit Concert presented by Katie Fitzgeralds
More Info Book TicketsSun 12 Jul 8:00pm Town Hall
*ONLY UK PERFORMANCE THIS YEAR* Plus *Eddy Morton* Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation, New York singer songwriter Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been labelled contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since the release of her self-titled, critically acclaimed 1985 debut album, she continues to give sold-out concerts in many of the world's best-known venues. Her debut album _Suzanne Vega_ released in 1985 was a platinum-selling success. With two hit singles _Luka_ and _Tom’s Diner_ featured on her next album, _Solitude Standing_ (1987), the undeniable talents were firmly established in the hearts and minds of legions of fans around the world. Since then, with a total of 8 solo albums and songs featured on soundtracks of major Hollywood films, the commercial and critical acclaim for this incredible singer/songwriter, who wrote her first song at the tender age of fourteen, continues. In August 2006, Suzanne Vega became the first major recording artist to perform in avatar form in the online virtual world, Second Life. In 2007, her last album release - the deeply personal _Beauty & Crime_ - Vega’s talents as a singer/songwriter are displayed like never before. _Beauty & Crime_ is that rare album by an artist in her third decade; an album that is as original and startling as her first. _Beauty & Crime_ won a Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical. Suzanne Vega, a long-standing supporter of Casa Alianza, maintains her commitment to child rights and is delighted to be headlining this 10th Anniversary Benefit Concert. Casa Alianza Charity provides care, rehabilitation and legal aid for street children in Central America & Mexico.
