Following on from its success in 2008, International Dance Festival Birmingham returns this April/May, produced by DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome. With four more weeks of fantastic dance activities planned for traditional theatre venues, shop windows, outdoor spaces, and even a canal barge, there will be hundreds of opportunities to experience and be a part of the action-packed programme! Performances taking place at Town Hall include the contemporary and traditional flamenco of Chanta La Mui and _Gnosis_ - a new solo work exploring the kathak roots of acclaimed choreographer Akram Khan. Produced by DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome, International Dance Festival Birmingham 2010 is funded by Advantage West Midlands, Arts Council England West Midlands, Birmingham City Council, and supported by Media Partner BBC WM and Accommodation Partner Crowne Plaza, Birmingham City Centre. IDFB 2010 is working in partnership with the West Midlands Culture Programme for London 2012.

Chanta La Mui’s _Complot_ is the brain-child of three artists - Olga Pericet, Daniel Doña and Marco Flores - who have enjoyed prestigious dance careers. They have joined forces to present an alternative yet complete vision of dance and flamenco inspired by different styles and music. In the second of our two Festival performances by Spanish company Chanta La Mui, performers Olga Pericet, Daniel Doña and Marco Flores explore the more traditional flamenco style of choreography and performance. Several pieces make up the show, in which dance, guitar and singing are the only players.
