Ladywood Showcase: Jazz Electives
The Jazz Electives strand of Ladywood Showcase is presented by THSH Education and Community as part of the Jazzlines programme in partnership with Birmingham Music Service. This strand offers a fantastic opportunity for pupils who have elected to carry on with the Wider Opportunities Programme in year 5 & 6 to develop their skills through Jazz performance.
The pupils will work with their instrumental teachers and an external Jazz practitioner throughout the year tackling new and exciting jazz techniques to enhance their musicianship and confidence in performing. Pupils are encouraged to explain what their own ideas and feelings are through improvisation, choice and self expression. Through language and actions pupils are encouraged to explore what Jazz is to them, their peers and their audiences.
A special jazz commission is written for the pupils who are invited to perform a special jazz feature in our annual Ladywood Showcase event.
Pupil resources are provided for them to continue their learning in years to come.
