Creative Foundations

This project works with teachers and young people, with training offered to new freelance artists under a mentorship scheme.

Through a series of workshops with professional musicians and a final performance at Symphony Hall, the project aims to enhance choral development in schools while striving for artistic excellence in our world famous concert hall.

We’re delighted to have the world famous composer Karl Jenkins on board again for this year’s project, along with musical director and workshop leader John Gibbons.

In July 2010, 950 singers from Birmingham schools and education organisations took part in a performance of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem, accompanied by a 22 piece orchestra. Watch a film about this ambitious project here …
