Connecting to Jazz

THSH has entered into an exciting programme of work as part of the Jazzlines programme, following a successful joint application to become one of Art Council England’s national portfolio organisations.

During the autumn/winter of 2011 we ran our first joint project aimed at connecting young people of different backgrounds and musical abilities to jazz music.
In the lead up to a performance by internationally renowned jazz artist Abram Wilson at our Symphony Hall Musical Picnic event in November, we’re working with Abram to deliver outreach workshops with our Concerts2Kerbstones Play Centres and Primary Schools as well as performances with other schools, community groups and local emerging artists as part of the wider project.

Everyone’s hard work culminated in performances alongside Abram at a Musical Picnic, our free family event at Symphony Hall.
