TOWN HALL, BIRMINGHAM

Event Info:
Kidsamonioum

If you have children aged 7 and under, Town Hall Birmingham is the place to be. On the first Saturday morning of every month, Town Hall offers children the chance to participate in a varied and exciting series of events, from drumming workshops to drama, jazz and improvisation. Children’s events are low priced with special family tickets available, and take place in a fun, informal, noise-friendly atmosphere with plenty of participation.

In Kidsamonium on Saturday 7 March (11am) at Town Hall there’s a chance to explore the exciting world of jazz and improvised music through performance and participation. Led by Tom Bancroft, the session includes a massed kazoo ‘call and response’ session and a Percussion Discussion as well as short contributions by a range of artists and interactive musical games by a troupe of musical characters. The show ends with the hilarious ‘mums and dads dancing’ sessionÂ…

On Saturday 4 April, a Free Family Learning Day at both Town Hall and Symphony Hall aims to give families, carers, children and young people a taste of the many arts opportunities that exist in Birmingham on a regular basis. Interactive art, drama and music activities take place on Symphony Hall foyers (from 10am) while Town Hall hosts family singing workshops with Ex Cathedra and drumming workshops with Andy Mason. Organised by the University of the First Age, the day is free but the workshops need to be booked in advance through UFA on 0121 212 9839 or info@ufa.org.uk.

Hansel and Gretel and the Glorious Glasses of Glee on Saturday 2 May (11am) is new take on a traditional tale with songs, silliness, puppets and participation. The Children’s Theatre Company MythsandLegwarmers invite children to join the Independent Inspector of Fairytales as he goes in search of Hansel and Gretel and the not-so-wicked, Lulu Witchy Woo has developed a penchant for eating the under tens!
