In a brand new series of Don’t Die Young, anatomist Dr Alice Jones visits Symphony Hall Birmingham as part of her mission to unravel the mysteries of the human body. The Immune System episode, which will be broadcast on 21 August, sees the enthusiastic and intrepid doctor put through an extremely brave experiment to test her adrenalin.

In a scene likely to have those with a fear of vertigo cowering behind the sofa, the presenter will be suddenly dropped 100ft from the ceiling of the concert hall to demonstrate how white blood cells react to sudden changes in the body induced by shock and fear.

The acclaimed concert hall is the setting for some very interesting fact finding in Don’t Die Young, Thursday 21 August at 8.30pm on BBC2.
