First Love

First Love

He tuned her roughly first
hinge-pins moaning to the levered lid.

And then he came again

bending irons
drop-screw regulator
key easing pliers
parallel pliers

easing sluggish jack centres
easing the hammers’ heights
listening – touching – feeling
inside her.

Leaving her finely tuned
hungry for his fingers’ touch
longing for his probing hands
spoiling her for life.
