Julie Boden

Julie Boden is a poet based in the Midlands area. She has been writing poems since childhood and was Birmingham Poet Laureate 2002/03 during which time she established the Oasis Cafe Theatre, a monthly multi-disciplined venue for the arts at the Orange Studio in Birmingham. More recently she has set up Poetry Central, an organisation funded by the Arts Council to promote poetry throughout the Midlands. She is also currently Poet in Residence at Town Hall and Symphony Hall.

Julie divides her time between writing and performing poems across the country and conducting poetry workshops for people of all ages in schools, colleges, universities, libraries and local poetry groups. She has a B.Ed degree with postgraduate expertise in Drama in Education and Special Needs and Autism and worked extensively as a teacher before devoting herself full time to poetry.
