We are thrilled to bring a glittering array of classical stars from around the globe to Birmingham to grace the stages of Town Hall and Symphony Hall this season.
In 2012/13 you can enjoy inspirational performances by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra with maestro Riccardo Chailly, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, The Royal Opera, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, The Vienna Boys’ Choir, Joshua Bell, Evgeny Kissin, Steven Osborne, Stephen Kovacevich, Hélène Grimaud, Ian Bostridge and Steve Reich, among many others.
Join us as the Birmingham International Concert Season, together with the CBSO, celebrate the genius of Beethoven. And, we mark the centenary of one of the most important of British composers, Benjamin Britten, with a series of concerts and events in January.
Book-ending the season are two epic weekends taking a fresh look at great classics. The season opens with a screening of the classic film Battleship Potemkin with a live accompaniment of a new score by Michael Nyman, and a stirring performance of Shostakovich’s heroic Leningrad Symphony. In June 2013 we explore a Universe of Sound with the Philharmonia Orchestra, including a performance of Holst’s The Planets and a screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with its famous score performed live.
Whatever your tastes in music, we look forward to welcoming you to Town Hall and Symphony Hall.
