100 Years at The Woodlands - A Gala Concert
Tue 10 Nov 7:30pm at Town Hall
Tue 10 Nov 7:30pm at Town Hall
Ruby Turner
Hosted by comedian and writer Shazia Mirza, this charity concert promises to be a fantastic evening of music and theatre celebrating the best of Birmingham’s young talent and starring one of the UK’s finest soul singers – Ruby Turner.
You’ll be taken on a nostalgic journey in music and theatre from the songs of Vaughan Williams to Gershwin, and hits from the Golden Age of musicals, sung by BBC Chorister of the Year Alice Halstead and celebrated young soprano Abigail Kelly.
Some familiar Birmingham faces will be joined by professional actors from Birmingham’s Sideways Theatre, who will re-create the wartime comedy of Flanagan & Allen and The Crazy Gang, and recall the moving stories of patients at the hospital in as far back as the 1920s. The senior choir of Edgbaston High School for Girls will sing throughout the evening, including A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square fitting for Remembrance Day on the 11th.
