Californian singer/songwriter Alela Diane grew up singing with her musician parents before travelling the US seeking inspiration for her musical journey. In 2003, Alela began to write her own music and teach herself to play guitar, before long her incredible talent emerged. Her songs blend tense, trance-like arpeggios with warm, thick vocals and meditative lyrics about family and nature. Her debut album The Pirate’s Gospel won the Rough Trade shops album of 2007 and 2009 saw the release of acclaimed second album To Be Still.
