BBC Big Band with guest Phil Woods (alto saxophone) Classics of Bebop

The band explores the musical language of bop with a collection of newly written scores by Hans Koller. For this, the band will also be joined by bebop legend, alto saxophonist Phil Woods. A four-time Grammy winner, Phil has worked with everyone from Benny Goodman, Thelonious Monk and Dizzy Gillespie to Steely Dan, Paul Simon and Billy Joel (saxophone solo on Just the Way You Are). A jazz great, this is Phil’s only scheduled UK appearance.
