CBSO Igorfest: Pulcinella 3pm

Sat 1 Mar 3:00pm at CBSO Centre (Book through our ticket office)

Today’s programme opens with a rare chance to hear some of the composer’s orchestral songs: ‘The Faun and the Shepherdess’, ‘Balmont poems’ and ‘Japanese Lyrics’. The suite from his commedia dell’ arte ballet Pulcinella is a typically irreverent, yet affectionate, tribute to the Italian music of the 18th century. This is followed by an example of Stravinsky the arranger, lovingly transforming music by his favourite old master into something that is unmistakably his own. Claire Booth and Lucy Schaufer return for more songs: ‘Pribaoutki’, ‘Berceuses du chat’, ‘Three Little Songs’ and ‘Tilimbom’, before the concert ends with a miniature masterpiece.
