Elgar's 150th Anniversary City of Birmingham Choir

Sat 19 May 7:30pm at Symphony Hall

Classic fm’s dynamic presenter, Natalie Wheen, traces the development of Elgar’s compositional genius. Hear about those brilliant creative skills with performances of some of his earlier choral and orchestral compositions, culminating in his late, great and reflective choral ode, “The Music Makers”, first performed in the Town Hall at the 1912 Birmingham Festival. Frances McCafferty, internationally acclaimed opera and concert artist, and the CBSO under Adrian Lucas’ inspirational baton feature in this anniversary tribute to the Midlands’ greatest musical son.
