Transforming Motor Cities into Liveable Cities: Examples from Scandinavia
As Birmingham aspires to be a `liveable` city, one of its major challenges is to humanise the modernist legacy of urban highways and roads. Bjarne Winterburg of the internationally acclaimed Ramboll Nyvig, has been working on international urban projects where context sensitive design, and visual and spatial coherence to squares, streets, buildings and public spaces has recreated settings for civic life. Bjarne will share his vision and design concepts for transforming roads into streets with the aim of influencing Birmingham`s urban future.
Bjarne will talk for 45 minutes followed by 15 minutes for discussion.
