The Birmingham Philharmonic Environment Prom
Sun 26 Apr 7:00pm at Symphony Hall
Sun 26 Apr 7:00pm at Symphony Hall
BPO & City of Birmingham Choir
The Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra goes green in this concert celebrating the wonders of the environment.
Hear how our chosen composers depict mountains, sunrises, rainstorms and soaring larks. Be prepared to be overawed by the majesty of Respighi’s Pines of Rome and feel the ground tremble under the footsteps of Roman Armies marching past the glorious Pine Trees that line Rome’s Appian Way.
Our prom also features the world premier of the orchestral version of Ballads for a Living Planet, a new choral work by composer Ian Barnett, orchestrated by Ivor McGregor. And to end our joyous evening, bring your flags and hooters for all of the usual prom favourites, and celebrate our ‘Green and Pleasant Land’.
During the day there will be a free exhibition by Midlands Schools who have gained “Eco School” status and the good work that they are doing to protect our environment. Details will be published nearer the time.
