We’re living in a new golden age of string quartet playing, but when the Washington Post raves about the “intelligence and wit” of the Goldmund Quartet, it’s time to sit up and listen. This dynamic young German group begin their ECHO recital with Haydn – always fun – but they’ve also commissioned a new piece from Birmingham favourite Dobrinka Tabakova: a magical contrast to passionate, deeply individual masterpieces by Mendelssohn and Debussy.
