Clarinet and bassoon are the orchestra’s beauty and the beast – but Richard Strauss knew that if they could only dance together, they’d fall in love. That’s the musical fairy-tale at the heart of this delightful concert from our effervescent Italian guest conductor Riccardo Minasi: set, like a jewel, between Haydn at his wittiest, Mozart at his noblest, and Beethoven at his most thrillingly dramatic.

CBSO+ 27 November, 6pm: Join Royal Birmingham Conservatoire musicians for a special piano showcase before tonight’s concert.
