Join the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra for this unique concert performance of Wagner's Das Rheingold to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opera's premiere in September 1869. The BPO's impressive orchestral forces will be augmented with tuned anvils, Wagner tubas and six harps, providing a stirring instrumental sound-world for the internationally renowned cast.

To make our performance as accessible and understandable as possible to the audience, we have installed a big screen above the orchestra which will display text explaining the story of the opera as it is being performed, alongside paintings depicting the story by Arthur Rackham.

Das Rheingold is the prelude to Wagner's cycle of Ring operas, and this dramatic story of gods and gold is sure to be an unforgettable musical experience.
