This afternoon is about love, briefly enjoyed, then irrevocably lost. Having worked their way through Schubert’s great song cycles over recent years, the art song “dream team” (New York Times) of tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Paul Lewis turn their attention to Schumann.

Schumann’s glorious song cycle Dichterliebe draws from Heinrich Heine’s collection ‘Lyrisches Intermezzo’. The result is a subtle, sophisticated marriage of some of the most exquisite music and poetry ever written. Come and have your heart broken.
