Popular comedian and TV star Jimmy Carr celebrates a record 13th show at Birmingham?s prestigious Symphony Hall tonight (Friday 24 September) and announces two April 2011 performances at the venue are to be filmed for his forthcoming DVD, Laughter Therapy.
Jimmy has now performed at the venue more times than any other artist or entertainer, breaking Victoria Wood?s record of 12 shows in total.
The star, who performs to a capacity audience tonight, said, ?Performances at Symphony Hall feel very intimate – the sound is crystal clear and so I always hear the hecklers in the back row. I hope that I bring in audiences who might not visit the venue otherwise if only for the nice seats. There is definitely something to be said for the comfortable seats.?
Jimmy Carr?s Laughter Therapy tour, which visits the city on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April 2011, will be recorded for a DVD release later on in the year.
Chris Baldock, General Manager of Symphony Hall, said, ?It?s fantastic for us that someone of Jimmy?s calibre continues to return to Symphony Hall each year and reflects how we are reaching out to new audiences through a wide variety of shows, concerts and events.?
?We?ve seen a tremendous growth in comedy performances over the last few years here and as a result, we are committed to bringing the UK?s finest comedy talent to Birmingham for the foreseeable future.?
