Popular comedian and TV star Jimmy Carr celebrates a record 13th show atBirmingham?s prestigious Symphony Hall tonight (Friday 24 September) and announcestwo April 2011 performances at the venue are to be filmed for his forthcoming DVD,Laughter Therapy.

The host of hit Channel 4 comedy 8 Out Of 10 Cats first visited Symphony Hall in 2005 and has since performed to a total audience of over 25,000 people.

Jimmy has now performed at the venue more times than any other artist or entertainer, breaking Victoria Wood?s record of 12 shows in total.

The star, who performs to a capacity audience at Symphony Hall tonight, said, ?Performances at Symphony Hall feel very intimate – the sound is crystal clear and so I always hear the hecklers in the back row. I hope that I bring in audiences who might not visit the venue otherwise if only for the nice seats. There is definitely something to be said for the comfortable seats.?

Jimmy Carr?s Laughter Therapy tour, which visits the city on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April 2011, will be recorded for a DVD release later on in the year.
