"Thank you for calling Buckingham Palace"

My role at that point was working as Secretary to the Head of Corporate Affairs for The ICC/NEC/NIA. In readiness for the official launch of The ICC and Symphony Hall, and the visit from HM The Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh, I was given a London telephone number to call. I had been asked to arrange for an official print of them both to be available for them to sign on the day.
I called the number I was given, not knowing the company name, to hear at the end of the line: “Thank you for calling Buckingham Palace.”
I had a lot of dealings from then on with the Palace’s Press Office about that photo. There were only certain ‘shots’ of them that were allowed to be signed during official visits, so it was decided which one it would be and arrangements were set in place for it to be signed.
The signed, framed photo now hangs proudly on the wall outside of the staff offices on level 5A.
