The ECHO (European Concert Hall Organisation) Rising Stars series started in 1996 and principal participating venues include Amsterdam?s Concertgebouw, Cologne?s Philharmonie, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Vienna, Cite de la Musique in Paris, as well as Town Hall & Symphony Hall Birmingham. The venues nominate a musician or groups of musicians who they believe to be on the brink of an international career and give that career a helping hand by offering a tour of the prestigious member venues.

Baltic Crossing was nominated by The Sage, Gateshead, and has already chalked up five European appearances as part of the Rising Stars series. The five-piece line up of musicians from the Finland, Denmark and the UK delight in introducing their audiences to music from each other?s countries. Expect fiery Scandinavian fiddles, bubbling Northumbrian pipes and a driving guitar and double bass rhythm section.
