Participants of Town Hall Symphony Hall's community-led music making programme, Live in the Lodge performed at the Falcon Lodge Community Centre last weekend. Over 60 participants signed up to attend weekly sessions, with many of them sharing their progress during this festive end to the term.
In addition to regular performances, concerts and gigs, featuring both residents and professional touring artists, Live in the Lodge features an ever-growing community choir, performances for local primary schools and weekly instrumental lessons on guitar, drumkit, ukulele and djembe!
A particular highlight was announcing that one of the participants, who joined the project at its’ inception, passed her Grade 1 Guitar exam with distinction! Derek Griffin, Mayor of Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, was in attendance to congratulate Tiana on her fantastic achievement.
Other highlights included hearing from the newly formed Djembe group, led by Bethan Jones, and hearing from the newly-formed collaboration group, made up of participants learning about group performance, improvisation and playing with varied instrumentation.
Live In The Lodge is produced by Town Hall Symphony Hall and Mubu Music and is kindly funded by the Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust and Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council.
