Some of the biggest names in Bhangra, British Asian and UK urban music will be honoured at the first Brit Asia TV Music Awards ceremony, which is to be held at Birmingham?s Symphony Hall on Sunday 2 May.
Artists nominated across 13 categories include Jay Sean, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Talvin Singh, Dizzee Rascal and Birmingham?s own Bhangra newcomer Jaz Dhami.
The evening, hosted by comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, will feature performances from Sukshinder Shinda, Jaz Dhami, JK, Kazz Kumar and a spectacular collaboration featuring Malkit Singh, Alaap, Heera, Apna Sangeet, DCS amongst others and will be filmed and broadcast by BritAsia TV.
Brit Asia TV Sales and Marketing Director Sheila Nakra said ahead of the ceremony,
?Symphony Hall is the most obvious choice to host the first Brit Asia TV Music Awards 2010. The venue not only has the capacity and prestige to showcase the best of British Asian Music on an international scale but Birmingham is also home to the pioneers of UK Bhangra and it only seems right to celebrate this fact!?
