It was the sun that won it!

Town Hall & Symphony Hall’s ArtsFest visitors were up by 8.4% across the weekend to over 11,500, an increase of 900 from last year. The two halls hosted 23 events on stage and in the foyers, with acts from dancing to drumming, brass to Brazilian samba, and world music fusion to indie folk-pop.

Particular highlights included the Town Hall Gospel Choir and Birmingham Community Gospel Choir’s joint session at Town Hall, Aston Performing Arts Academy’s Big Up Birmingham at Symphony Hall, and the range of talented local artists all enjoying the experience of performing on Town Hall’s stage.

There was a taster session for Symphony Hall’s latest free foyer series Beyond Classical which will run monthly from Thursday 25 October at 5.30pm and there were chances to explore some of the hall’s other free foyer series Mid-day Mantra, Jazzlines Free Gigs and Folk For Free.

Chris Baldock, Director of Performances said “we had a really busy couple of days in the venues and on our Ask It stall, and there’s no doubt the warm weather helped entice people along to Town Hall and Symphony Hall to enjoy the vast array of entertainment which makes ArtsFest so special.”
