Jazz titan Wayne Shorter at Town Hall - Images

On Thursday 1 November, legendary saxophonist Wayne Shorter appeared at Town Hall for a rare and exclusive UK date, part of the Jazzlines programme.

Shorter, and his band of Danilo Perez (piano) ,Brian Blade (drums) and John Patitucci (bass), kept the audience in the palm of their hand for well over an hour, at this sold out gig. Opening for the Wayne Shorter Quartet on the night were our very own Jazzlines Trio: Reuben James (piano), Ric Yarborough (drums) and James Banner (bass) – who was also celebrating his 21st birthday.

Jazzlines Programme Manager, Mary Wakelam Sloan said:

Last night was a triumph of the scene here in Birmingham and a wonderful experience to hear Wayne Shorter with his Quartet. Danilo Perez was a particular thrill to hear alongside the remarkable Brian Blade and John Patitucci; witnessing icons of the music is a real privilege.
I was personally delighted that the Jazzlines Trio received such a cheer after their opening set – a proud moment for the Jazzlines team.

There have been a couple of great reviews of the evening – including ones from the Guardian, Express & Star and Jazzwise.
