Young Birmingham musicians with a passion for jazz are being invited to apply for the second Jazzlines Summer School, to be held at Symphony Hall between Monday 19 August and Friday 23 August 2013.
Now in its second year this programme offers instrumentalists and vocalists aged between 14 -19 an exciting opportunity to receive guidance and tuition in jazz performance, composition and ensemble playing.
The teaching team, a experienced group of music professionals and specialist jazz performers, composers and educators, will be lead by Percy Pursglove, Sara Colman and supported by members of the Jazzlines Trio;Ric Yarborough, James Banner and Reuben James.
Each day will run from 10.00am until 4.00pm with the exception of Friday 23 August, when Jazzlines Summer School participants will take part in a performance in Symphony Hall Café Bar at 4pm-5pm. There will also be follow up performance opportunities at Jazzlines Free Gigs in the same space.
Ten places are available to young jazz enthusiasts of approximately grade 5 standard in music. Participants will work alongside the existing Jazzlines Ensemble throughout the Summer School week.
