Town Hall Symphony Hall's adventure season got off to a great start this weekend; people came from all over Birmingham to brave the rain and climb the wall outside Town Hall, in Victoria Square - there for one day this weekend only! The event marked the start of our adventure season, which runs throughout 2018 and features 4 world-famous adventurers, plus a visit from the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. To help prepare you for the adventure to come, here's a quick fact file about the adventurers coming to Town Hall:
Ant Middleton is an ex-elite forces soldier, TV presenter and survival expert best known for as the Chief Instructor on Channel 4's SAS: Who Dares Wins, but he also achieved the elite forces 'holy trinity' by serving in the Paras, Marines and Special Boat Service. His stories are packed with bravery and danger from all over the world, as well as an insight into his future projects!
Sir Ranulph Fiennes began his adventures as a member of the armed forces, followed by a series of record-breaking expeditions alongside his wife and childhood sweetheart Ginny Pepper, including being part of the first team to reach both Poles, being the first to circumnavigate the earth along its polar axis, discovering the lost city of Ubar on the Yemeni border, and being the oldest Briton to ever summit Mount Everest.
Sir Chris Bonington is one of Britain's greatest mountaineers, and is the first person to climb the south face of Annapurna and the south west face of Everest, as well as writing 17 books and fronting numerous television programmes.
Simon Reeve shot to fame when his book on Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaida was the only one of its kind after the 9/11 bombings. Since then he has presented over 60 shows for the BBC, circumnavigated the globe three times, and been to over 120 countries. Exploration did not come without the fear factor however; from almost dying of Malaria to being chased by kidnappers in Mogadishu, Reeve has many stories to tell.
These epic adventurers will be visiting THSH throughout 2018 to tell us about stories of their craziest adventures - head to the What's On section and start your own adventure!
