Love in the air at Symphony Hall

A classical music aficionado and fan of Symphony Hall proposed to his partner on stage at the world class concert hall yesterday, marking a first for the venue.

Deputy Head teacher Tim Cox from Stamford in Lincolnshire popped the question to teacher Tina Rossington, from Worksop, in a surprise private event at Symphony Hall.

It is the first time such a proposal has taken place at Symphony Hall.

Having accepted the proposal, Ms Rossington said ?I was whisked up to Birmingham under the impression we were attending a concert – I had no idea of Tim?s plans until we came into Symphony Hall and I saw the stage all set up and the quintet performing just for us. It was magical, like I was in a dream!?

A quintet featuring CBSO musicians serenaded the couple on the stage strewn with white rose petals and enjoyed champagne and canapés.

Both Mr Cox, who owns over 2200 music CDs including rare recordings, and Ms Rossington, who holds a degree in music, are regular attendees at Symphony Hall concerts.
