Prime Minister meets city council and business leaders at Town Hall

Prime Minister David Cameron expressed his delight at the renovation of Town Hall Birmingham during a visit earlier today.

In Birmingham to chair a meeting with city council and business leaders following the announcement of a £6bn fund for regions, the Prime Minister was given a brief introduction to the building and tour by Andrew Jowett OBE, Town Hall & Symphony Hall chief executive.

The meeting, attended by Performances Birmingham Ltd chair Anita Bhalla OBE, along with Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP chair Andy Street, Birmingham City Council leader Sir Albert Bore, Lord Heseltine and Birmingham and Solihull Chamber of Commerce chief executive Jerry Blackett amongst others, took place in the historic building’s Lower Bar.

David Cameron announced plans for the Government’s Local Growth Fund, including a programme of investment in Birmingham and the West Midlands including improvements to public transport, housing and training.
