I am thrilled to join the team at THSH, in a city which boasts a long and proud musical history. My soon-to-be father-in-law was involved in the construction of the ICC, which houses the world-renowned Symphony Hall. To have my extended families history embedded in the craftsmanship of the venue has made my appointment even more momentous.

My introduction to classical music was in 1998 when Luciano Pavarotti sang Viva Forever with the Spice Girls. Just like that collaboration, which merged classical with pop, Town Hall and Symphony Hall present a diverse programme of artistic and commercial product and I am thrilled to be taking up post as Director of Sales and Marketing.

My first visit to Birmingham's Town Hall was for a recital by Christopher Park earlier this year. The Leonard Bernstein Award-winning German pianist who, like me, is yet to turn 30, was described after that performance by a local blog as "florid, light, jaunty and sombre." The thoroughly entertaining performance prompted me to book another from the ECHO rising star series later in the year, and with tickets for as little as £12.50 I would encourage others to see the talented new generation of classical musicians coming through Birmingham's best cultural concert venues.
