We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Richard Fitzgerald after a short illness. Richard was Symphony Hall’s Technical Manager when the hall first opened in 1991 having previously worked at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The opening of a major concert hall is not without its fair share of challenges, but under Richard’s guidance, the technical operation was in very safe hands. His contribution to Symphony Hall’s reputation as one of the world’s great concert halls was vitally important.
A much loved and respected member of the team, Richard’s faultless professionalism was acknowledged not only by his colleagues, but also by the many artists who visited Symphony Hall throughout his time with us.
We send our condolences to his widow Helen.
