BBC TV?s Inside Out programme on Monday 26 October at 7.30pm on BBC1 (in the Midlands) is to include a feature report on Sing For All. 600 children, aged 7-10, from 21 Birmingham schools were involved in Sing For All which culminated in a concert at Symphony Hall in July when the children gathered to perform music they had rehearsed as individual choirs, and join in a massed choir finale. The programme particularly follows Ladypool Primary School in Sparkhill and includes interviews with participants (both choir trainers and children) and footage from workshops and rehearsals as well as the performance itself held in the magnificent Symphony Hall.
Sing For All is a collaborative project between Town Hall Symphony Hall (THSH), Birmingham Primary Schools and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) Choral Dept which aims to encourage singing amongst school children, regardless of age or ability. It does this through a series of workshops led by leading choral trainers who offer expert tuition to primary school teachers and choir leaders who, in turn, lead singing sessions in classrooms and with established school choirs.
Sing For All has been made possible by the kind support of the Peter and Jane How Trust.
