THSH seeks Jazz composer and performer

Jazzlines, Town Hall Symphony Hall’s (THSH) dynamic programme of live jazz performances and education projects across Birmingham, is seeking to recruit a jazz composer and performer to compose an 8 minute jazz piece for a large children’s ensemble.

In June 2014, THSH in collaboration with Birmingham Music Service will host the third annual Generation Ladywood Showcase.

The schools concert – exclusively for primary school performers in the locality of Ladywood in Birmingham – includes the premiere of a new jazz commission as in previous years, written for performers in years 5 and 6 who elected to play their instruments after their whole class instrumental tuition in year 4.

The Jazzlines Elective Composer will be required to write the next commission, lead creative familiarisation sessions with Birmingham Music Service tutors, two mass rehearsal sessions for a 250-strong ensemble of children and the performance in Symphony Hall.
