THSH are looking for a core group of ten young people aged 16-21 yrs from Birmingham to be part of Sound Lounge 21, an exciting new project exploring the work behind cultural programming and the music industry.
Over 11 months the group will be skilled up by industry professionals and develop expertise in programming, producing, leadership, event management, marketing and digital media. All whilst working towards gaining a Gold Arts Award qualification.
Working as a team from a base in Symphony Hall’s Patrick & Multimedia Studio each participant will pilot their own events for young people alongside our established foyer programmes: Folk for Free, Rush Hour Blues and Musical Picnic. Team members will manage budgets, develop ideas and projects, fundraise and become ambassadors for one of the city’s largest music venues.

Submissions must be received by 21 September; successful applicants will be invited to an open interview on 24 September at Symphony Hall.

At 4pm and 5pm on Saturday 8 September, festival and events producer Amy Martin will lead drop in workshops for young people interested in events management in The Patrick Music and Multimedia Studio at Symphony Hall. Learn about the skills you require to be an accomplished events manager and what opportunities there are with Sound Lounge 21 to programme music events at Town Hall and Symphony Hall.
