How did you get to be a THSH Tour Guide?

I have been stewarding at Symphony Hall and Town Hall since 2004. Over the years I have developed a great affection for the two buildings. With a background in teaching and previous experience volunteering in Lichfield Cathedral this was an ideal opportunity to help visitors gain an insight into the two concert halls.

What do you particularly like about Town Hall?

Town Hall has a special ambience. Once inside the beautifully restored interior you get a real sense of its history.

What do you particularly like about Symphony Hall?

I never fail to be impressed when walking into Symphony Hall. Its scale and design both visually and acoustically are amazing

What is your favourite memory of working at THSH?

There are so many. The events we put on are so diverse and it is rare to have two similar events in a row I have many favourite memories both of events and of working with colleagues. I think this diversity in events and audiences keeps the buildings fresh and relevant to the city. I do particularly enjoy welcoming audiences who have never been before

Do you have preferred type of music, a conductor or genre?

I have become very eclectic in my tastes! I can enjoy great CBSO concerts through to pop groups and singers. I think this has evolved in part through working at THSH and experiencing so many different musical styles.
